It typically consists of a subject and a predicate and follows grammatical rules to communicate an idea, question, command, or exclamation. Sentences can be classified into different types based on their structure and function, such as declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences.

Types of Sentences (جملوں کی اقسام)

Sentences are divided into four types based on their function:

1. Assertive Sentences (بیانیہ جملے)

These sentences state a fact, describe something, or share information.

ایسے فقرات جو حقیقت یا تفصیل پیش کرتے ہوں

Examples:

📌 The teacher was teaching the class.
✒️ استاد کلاس پڑھا رہا تھا

📌 There were no buses to Lahore today.
✒️ آج لاہور کے لیے کوئی بسیں نہیں تھیں

📌 I watched the film Paheli yesterday.
✒️ کل میں نے فلم پہیلی دیکھی

2. Imperative Sentences (حکمیہ جملے)

These sentences express commands, requests, or instructions.

ایسے جملے جن سے ہدایت،حکم یادرخواست کا اظہار ہو

Examples:

📌 Go to the police station.
✒️ پولیس اسٹیشن جاؤ

📌 Do not make noise here.
✒️ یہاں شور مت کرو

3. Interrogative Sentences (سوالیہ جملے)
