Past Continuous Tense in Urdu
It Is Used For
This tense is used to describe an activity that was in progress at a specific time in the past. It shows that something was ongoing and had not yet been completed.
SIMPLE SENTENCES (سادہ فقرات):
Structure:
Subject + was/were + verb + ing + object
Examples:
- He was going to Karachi.
وہ کراچی جا رہا تھا۔ - She was buying a book.
وہ کتاب خرید رہی تھی۔ - It was hailing.
اولے پڑ رہے تھے۔ - You were laughing.
آپ ہنس رہے تھے۔ - They were taking exercise.
وہ ورزش کر رہے تھے۔ - The dogs were barking.
کتے بھونک رہے تھے۔ - I was making tea.
میں چائے بنا رہی تھی۔ - We were going to market.
